Meet Tracie
Tracie Cicchitti grew up in the mountains of Western Maryland, where the beauty of nature and a big imagination first sparked her love for storytelling. Although the North Star Children’s Series is her first published work, Tracie has been writing stories as long as she can remember.
When not writing, Tracie enjoys cooking with her son, walking along the beach with her dog Stella, and traveling to new places in search of adventure and inspiration.
Through the North Star Children’s Book Series, Tracie hopes to share the magic of storytelling and inspire curiosity, kindness, and wonder in young readers.
The Inspiration: Jim Cicchitti
The North Star Adventures book series celebrates the vision of my husband, Capt. Jim Cicchitti. Jim was a gentle giant with a captivating smile and a mischievous sparkle in his eye. He had a huge heart and a generous spirit. Kind, compassionate, and fiercely loyal, Jim made a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Jim dreamed big. In 1976, he founded the Starlight Fleet, turning his entrepreneurial spirit into something extraordinary. Business ventures fascinated him from a young age. He truly embodied the American Dream—starting by selling newspapers and homemade potholders along the beachfront and eventually building one of the premier fishing and eco-tourism operations on the East Coast. Along the way, he also created an incredible interactive pirate cruise that brought joy and adventure to countless families.
For nearly 30 years, we worked, played, and loved together. Jim was my best friend, my mentor, and my greatest supporter.
He was my North Star.
